SATEL K-1 open/close sensor is based on magnetic principle. It consists of two elements, magnet and reed switch responsive to the magnetic field generated by the magnet. When the elements are mounted close to each other on movable and immovable parts of a window, door or gate, any opening action will result in opening the contacts of the reed.
An advantage of magnetic sensors over motion sensors mounted in rooms is that they trigger alarm before the thief enters a room. In addition, alarm systems based on such sensors are good solutions for pet owners - they are not sensitive to the presence of animals in the rooms.
The SATEL K-1 sensor is a typical part of many alarm systems. The elements are to be mounted with screws on plastic or wooden parts of windows/doors. The leads of the reed switch are to be connected to an alarm system via a 2-wire cable.
